Marilyn A. Hochfield

Special Counsel

Ms. Hochfield is Special Counsel to the Firm. Her practice is concentrated primarily in appellate advocacy, mediation and employment law. She is a certified mediator for the United States District Court, WDNY.

Ms. Hochfield received her law degree magna cum laude from State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University. She is admitted to practice in all New York Courts; United States Supreme Court; U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; U.S. District Courts, Western, Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York; and the U.S. Tax Court.

Ms. Hochfield is a member of Erie County, New York State and Women’s Bar Association of New York. She is former Chair of the Appellate Practice Committee and Human Rights Committee of the Erie County Bar Association, a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the N.Y.S. Bar Associations, and the Federal Court Practice, Labor Law, Appellate and Human Rights Committees of the Erie County Bar Association.

Ms. Hochfield’s honors and awards include Who’s Who in the Law, Business First and Buffalo Law Journal, 2007, 2008 and 2009, for Appellate Practice; Outstanding Legal Service Award, Buffalo Citizens’ Council on Human Relations; Outstanding Service Award, Buffalo Branch, N.A.A.C.P.; Human Relations Award, Citizens’ Council on Human Relations; Faculty Award for Distinguished Achievement in Federal Taxation, SUNY at Buffalo Law School; and Commendation, Organization for Security & Cooperation in Europe for supervising elections in Bosnia pursuant to the Dayton Peace Accords.

Ms. Hochfield has lectured at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in a seminar on Law and Social Change and a seminar on Federal Practice. She has been a frequent lecturer in continuing legal education programs in employment law, appellate practice and civil rights.
