Samuel L. Shapiro
Mr. Shapiro has been with Kavinoky Cook LLP since his graduation from law school in 1965. In July of 2021, he retired from the practice of law as one of our most prolific and accomplished lawyers.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Shapiro practiced business and commercial law with focusses on health care, leasing, business law, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, commercial finance, construction law and banking. There was almost no business transaction of any kind that Mr. Shapiro could not do.
Mr. Shapiro graduated from Marietta College in 1962 and received his JD from the State University of New York in 1965. Mr. Shapiro was a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Erie County Bar Association. He has been the Chairman, Co-Chairman and Lecturer of the Practicing Law Institute’s National Panels on Equipment Leasing. He has been President of the University of Buffalo Law Alumni Association, a Director of the University of Buffalo Law Alumni Association, and was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Law School of the State University of New York at Buffalo. He received the University of Buffalo Law Alumni Association 1999 Distinguished Alumnus Award for Leadership by Example as a Private Practitioner.
Mr. Shapiro has actively participated in civil and charitable endeavors. He was Vice Chairman of The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus, Vice Chairman and a past president of the Rosa Coplon Jewish Home and Infirmary, served as President of Temple Beth Zion, was a Director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo Inc., was a member of the Board of Directors of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation, and an officer in other charitable and civic associations. Throughout his many years of practice, Mr. Shapiro was listed in the highest categories designated by Best Lawyers in American, Super Lawyers and Martindale Hubbel.
